Impact: Transport services between SDC1, Dronten and Nikhef, Amsterdam
Expected Outage: DWDM channels to Nikhef, Amsterdam are down now. We don’t have any problem with IP transit service and L2 Transport service, other dark fibers automatically took over the data traffic, but there is a small chance for high latency and short time packet loss in the time of rebuild routing tables.
We will keep you updated about repair works. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this might cause.
You are receiving this message as an advance notice of a black building test
Location =Datacenter 2, Meppel, NL (SDC2)
Service Type = Grid / Generators test and maintenance

Expected duration: 2 hours
Service interruption: none expected
Reason: Black building test combined with works for the 2N power upgrade.
Please note that, during this test the normal grid power will not be available for period of approximately 20 seconds and the UPS-feeds will take over. Therefore no colocation power will be affected, your equipment and services will not be affected.
During this black building test we will also perform maintenance. The new power divider will be connected to the main power grid. Performing this work on the same time as the yearly black building test will save us another similar maintenance window later on this year.
All activities will be conducted under the direct supervision of Serverius and its external suppliers ABB Power, PON/Caterpillar, T&S and Applitech. Approximately 30 minutes before the test commences, another reminder that the test is due to start will be sent. After the test and maintenance is finished the noc website noc.serverius.net will be updated that all work is performed.
Because a lot of engineers will be available during this black building test, we would like to ask you NOT to visit the datacenter during this maintenance window. Of course you are allowed to access your hardware but please visit the datacenter ONLY when you really need to. FYI: during this maintenance window the engineers will not communicate to users but updates will be communicated at http://noc.serverius.net

Reason: At this year we faced with a lot of maintenances at fiber network in the Netherlands, During those maintenances our L2 transport service was affected and our clients had outages. Also, the total amount of traffic in our Transport network always increasing same as expectations of our clients to this service.
To avoid the outages in the future related with planned or emergency maintenances of out fiber suppliers and to increase the amount of ports and total capacity we have built the totally new Transport network. This network is based on the newest Huawei CloudEngine hardware and fully redundant fiber channels. It’s done like fully redundant and fully independent of main Serverius IP transit network.
New Transport network has available hardware at those locations:
– Nikhef, Amsterdam, NL
– GlobalSwitch, Amsterdam, NL
– SDC1, Dronten, NL
– SDC2, Meppel, NL
– TCN, Groningen, NL
– Interxion, Frankfurt, DE (coming soon)
Based on this new Transport network we can offer our clients different kind of services, such as:
– fully redundant L2 tunnels between any POPs on our network
– free of charge connection to our own Internet Exchange point and connections to our route servers for free exchange of IP traffic between all members of our exchange point.
– Low-latency IP transit service with BGP FlowSpec extensions.
– Protected IP transit service with AntiDDoS and Web Application Firewall protection.
– Connection to the AMS-IX exchange point
New Transport network is fully done and tested and ready for production usage.
Expected Outage: At this step of implementation, we should migrate all existing L2 vlans connections between Nikhef, Amsterdam and SDC1, Dronten to the new Transport network. Expected outage is up to 1 minute for reconnections.
